Founded in 1877 by Norwegian Captain Helly Juel Hansen who first began producing oilskin jackets, trousers, sou'westers and tarpaulins, made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil. During the 20th Century advancements in fabric technology has seen Helly Hansen firmly established at the cutting edge of clothing designed for use in extreme conditions.
